The VIII International Youth Scientific Legal Forum dedicated to the Day of Science was held


On May 16, 2024, the VIII International Youth Scientific Legal Forum dedicated to the Day of Science was held at the Law Faculty.
The main purpose of the event was an open dialogue, which is not only an opportunity to exchange views of participants and test their theoretical developments, but also a convenient opportunity for new acquaintances, informal communication, and unforgettable impressions, which is important for young people, in particular for students and postgraduate students of the Law Faculty of the National Aviation University, in order to become researchers of legal science, future professionals and worthy citizens of their country.
Scientists, government and public figures, judges and practicing lawyers from 10 countries, 12 regions of Ukraine, 23 institutions and organizations, and 33 higher education institutions joined the discussion of the problems of modern legal education.
Opening the event, the acting dean of the Law Faculty, doctor of law, professor Iryna Sopilko welcomed all participants and expressed her gratitude to all partners who have supported the faculty for many years and helped to implement research projects. "The formation of conscious and educated youth is an invaluable task for Ukrainian society. At this fateful and defining moment in Ukraine's history, we need a generation of critically thinking leaders, highly qualified lawyers who would change the paradigm of Ukraine's progress and lead our country on the right path," said Iryna Sopilko.
Greeting the participants, acting vice-rector for research and innovative development of the National Aviation University, doctor of technical sciences, professor Serhiy Hnatiuk said: "Such events are extremely important when a large number of young people participate in scientific events, there are prospects for where to strive and what to move towards. If there are young people in science, it means that our university and our country will have a future."
The plenary session continued in the format of a scientific discussion, which was joined by domestic and foreign scholars and legal practitioners, including:
- Kateryna Levchenko - Government Commissioner for Gender Policy, doctor of law, professor;
- Volodymyr Pylypenko - Honorary Consul of the Republic of Lithuania, Director of the Institute of International Law at Lviv University of Business and Law, doctor of law, associate professor, Honored Lawyer of Ukraine;
- Oleksandr Kopylenko - Member of the Ukrainian Parliament, doctor of law, professor, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Honored Lawyer of Ukraine;
- Tetiana Kolomoyets - dean of the Law Faculty of Zaporizhzhia National University, doctor of law, professor, corresponding member of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, head of the Educational and Scientific Laboratory for Research of Service Law Problems of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, Honored Lawyer of Ukraine;
- Yevhen Petruniak, Member of the Parliament of Ukraine, chairman of the Subcommittee of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy, member of the IFO "Smart Policy";
- Yuriy Boshytskyi - rector of the Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, PhD in Law, professor, Honored Lawyer of Ukraine;
- Istvan Lytvyn - rector of the Institute of Educational and Professional Development, doctor of law, Budapest, Hungary;
- Maryna Stavniychuk, chairperson of the Board of the NGO "For Democracy through Law", Vice President of the World Congress of Ukrainian Lawyers, Member of the Venice Commission 2009-2013, PhD in Law, Honored Lawyer of Ukraine;
- Olesia Vashchuk, head of the Council of Young Scientists at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Doctor of Law, Professor;
- Vefkhvia Gvaramia - dean of the Faculty of Law and Diplomacy of Sukhumi State University, professor, Tbilisi, Georgia;
- Viktor Koshchynets - first deputy head of the Department for the Execution of Criminal Sentences, doctor of law, professor;
- Tetiana Opanasiuk, head of the Legal Department of the State Judicial Administration of Ukraine;
- Pavlo Horinov, director of the Educational and Research Institute of Law and Political Science of the Mykhailo Drahomanov Ukrainian State University, PhD in Law, associate professor, Honored Worker of the Social Sphere of Ukraine;
- Oleksandr Herasymenko, President of the Institute of Political, Legal and Religious Studies, member of the Coordination Council for the Promotion of Ukrainian National and Civil Identity under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, doctor of law;
- Daria Gurina, deputy head of the Laboratory of Educational and Scientific Work of the State Research Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, PhD in Law;
- Yevhen Kotorobai, chairman of the Council of Young Lawyers of Ukraine;
- Nina Darahanova, professor of the Department of Administrative, Financial and Information Law of the Faculty of International Trade and Law of the State University of Trade and Economics, doctor of law, professor;
- Yulia Zahumenna, professor of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law, Faculty 1, Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, PhD in Law, associate professor;
- Olena Zvonenko, lawyer, PhD in Law;
- Alvaro Andrés Erices Bravo - lawyer at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), specialist in space law at the National Institute of Air and Space Law of Argentina, winner of the Dr. Aldo Armando Cocca Award 2023, awarded by the Latin American and Caribbean Space Network, member of the International Institute of Space Law (IISL), member of the Latin American and Caribbean Space Network, plenary member of the Latin American Air and Space Law Association, member of the Ibero-American Institute of Air and Space Law, member of the Buenos Aires Bar Association (Argentina).
During the forum, important issues for our country were discussed, including the need to improve legislation to bring the aggressor state to justice, ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men under international and national law, the challenges faced by the expert service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the commission of criminal offenses by military personnel and the lack of guarantees of compliance with the principles of international law, etc.
Proposals and recommendations made by the forum participants will be implemented in the educational process, used for further research, and will serve to improve national legislation in the context of adapting it to the norms and requirements of international standards.
