Famous Ukrainian journalist and YouTube blogger Roman Tsymbaliuk met with students of the Faculty of International Relations.

Roman Tsymbalyuk spoke about the importance of information security for the country, emphasizing that, first of all, its support is the main guarantee of the state's existence. When it comes to defending national interests through the media, the journalist advises to speak to the opposite side, to which we direct our narratives, in a language they understand.

The speaker spoke about his path to journalism, the work of a journalist during the war, and the challenges he faced while working as a Ukrainian journalist accredited in Russia. Roman Tsymbalyuk paid special attention to blogging. He spoke about his own YouTube channel and noted that the success of a video lies not primarily in editing and promotion, but in the meanings that are embedded in it.

The journalist advised the students to focus not only on gaining theoretical knowledge, but also on the practical part. Roman Tsymbaliuk noted that students should start looking for a job in their specialty as early as in their student years.

Roman Tsymbalyuk answered numerous questions from students, including those about his persecution while working in Russia, the future of journalism in Ukraine, and information policy.

The meeting was also joined by Ukrainian journalist and former Director General of Ukrinform Oleksandr Kharchenko, who suggested that interested students consider working as investigators.
