All-Ukrainian poetry contest "White Dove" - 2024: inspiration in times of trial

Despite the challenges of martial law, the National Aviation University hosted the White Dove All-Ukrainian Poetry Contest. This event was aimed at revealing talents and promoting creative development of pupils and students, stimulating creative thinking, the desire for universal culture and intellectual novelty. In addition, the contest is established to foster patriotic feelings through the artistic word, popularize the national literary heritage and cultivate love for the Ukrainian language and Ukraine.

More than 60 participants from different regions of Ukraine took part in the event: Vinnytsia, Volyn, Dnipro, Kyiv, Lviv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, and Kyiv city. Among them were talented students of out-of-school education, literary clubs and studios. The Centers for Children and Youth Creativity also supported the students' participation.

The organizing committee was headed by Halyna Lazareva, director of the Educational and Research Institute of Education Development of the NAU, Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine. Organizational and methodological support for the event was provided by the Center for Pre-Professional Training and Gifted Students under the leadership of Tetiana Petrovska, PhD in Pedagogy, member of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine.

The works of the participants were evaluated by a jury headed by a well-known writer, Honored Journalist of Ukraine Vasyl Vasylashko.

Most of the poems were devoted to love for Ukraine and highlighting the difficult realities of today with faith in a happy future. The contest awarded 5 first, 9 second, and 14 third places, and 27 participants received incentive diplomas for their imaginative perception of the world.

The winners of the contest will receive diplomas and prizes, and the honored participants will receive diplomas. The leaders of the winners were awarded with certificates of appreciation.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and everyone who supports and develops young talents. Based on the results of the contest, an electronic almanac of young writers' works, White Dove, will be prepared.
