On April 9, 2024, the head of the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure of the Law Faculty Sofia Lykhova, together with the staff of the Human Rights Information and Education Center, held a master class on "Human Rights in the Conditions of Martial Law" for students of the 11th grade of school №52 in Kyiv.

The students were familiarized with the procedure for establishing martial law in Ukraine and the restrictions imposed during its operation.

"The military command can restrict people's right to free movement. This includes the introduction of curfews, a ban or restriction on free choice of place of residence, a special regime of entry and exit from settlements, control of communications, inspection of belongings, documents, housing, etc.  At the same time, there are rights that are not subject to restriction, such as the human right to life. The following rights cannot be violated: the right to equality and respect for human dignity, the right to personal integrity, the right to marriage, the right to citizenship, the right to a fair trial, legal assistance and defense, and the right to housing," said Sofia Lykhova during her presentation.

This topic provoked a discussion among the students, as every citizen of Ukraine must navigate the current situation in our country and adhere to the restrictions that are necessary and legal today.
