Students of the Law Faculty are constantly exposed to the theoretical aspects of law while studying such disciplines as commercial, civil and criminal proceedings, but to better understand how the theory is applied in practice, they need to immerse themselves in the real and harsh world of the judiciary. For this very purpose, on April 4, 2024, first-year (bachelor's) students, accompanied by Natalia Zhmur, associate professor of the Department of Commercial, Air and Space Law, attended court hearings of the Kyiv-Svyatoshynskyi District Court of Kyiv Region.

The students had the opportunity to attend three court hearings on criminal cases related to hooliganism (Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), fraud (Article 190), and high treason (Article 111). Watching each of the parties to the proceedings with enthusiasm, the attendees had the opportunity to understand the complexity and seriousness of the preparatory court stage and the trial.

After each court hearing, the presiding judge, Myroslava Omelchenko, outlined the case in detail and explained the mechanism of evidence examination by all subjects of proof in criminal proceedings.

"Participation in court hearings is extremely useful for us, because we have seen how theory turns into practice and how important it is to have knowledge and a deep understanding of the law when presenting evidence and making decisions. We also received guidance and advice from the judge on how to successfully implement it in our future professional activities," said Anzhelika Levchenko, a student of the PR-304B group and chair of the Faculty Student Council, sharing her impressions.

The in-person presence of students at court hearings not only gives them an unforgettable experience, but also strengthens their professional skills.
