An inspiring meeting with the immortal works of Lina Kostenko

On March 28, 2024, the Educational and Research Institute of Continuing Education held a fascinating creative meeting "The influence of Lina Kostenko's works on modern youth" dedicated to the 94th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Ukrainian poetess.

About 100 participants, including students and staff of the Institute, as well as students of other NAU faculties, plunged into the world of Lina Kostenko's immortal creations. The moderator of the meeting, candidate of philological sciences Serhiy Cheripko, introduced the main milestones of the poetess' life and work, and the students recited her eternally living and relevant poems for any era.

The creative meeting allowed everyone to realize more deeply that the lines of Lina Kostenko's poetry are a kind of life motto for Ukrainians, especially for modern youth in the time of the great war with Russia, when they need to act. It is these lines that inspire us the most today:

"It shook the walls - and moved for a long time.
The sirens howled, and lightning flashed on the glass.
So, what should we do - run away? Run to a bomb shelter?
The Fuhrer would not wait in the Kremlin!
Let him be afraid - he's already yesterday's man.
If they sow bombs, they will reap hatred.
Sirens will howl. But I am not afraid.
Those who did not run away will not be caught."

We are proud of Lina Kostenko's invaluable contribution to the treasury of Ukrainian literature. Her work will inspire more than one generation of Ukrainians!
