On April 11, 2024, senior lecturer of the Department of Civil Law and Procedure Yulia Beluga, together with the Human Rights Information and Education Center of the Law Faculty, held a lecture on “Protection of Children's Rights in the Conflict Zone: Challenges and Opportunities” for high school students of the Economic and Law Lyceum of Desnianskyi district of Kyiv.

During the meeting with the students, the problems faced by minors and underage persons in the context of war and conflict were discussed, as well as legal aspects of protecting the rights of children affected by hostilities in Ukraine.

“Russian aggression in Ukraine has led to serious violations of the rights and plight of Ukrainian children and young people. This aggression has caused significant human rights violations and worsened the situation with security, education, access to medical services, social adaptation and psychological state of Ukrainian youth. Therefore, it is more important than ever to conduct legal education activities and explain to the citizens of our country about their rights and legal remedies in case of their violation,” said Yulia Beluga in her speech.

The high school students took an active part in the discussion of this topic and came to the conclusion that every citizen, regardless of age and gender, can become an active agent of change in the world by showing empathy and compassion for those in need, joining actions to improve conditions for all those in need.

At the end of the meeting, the students were introduced to the benefits of studying at the NAU Law Faculty and all those present received information booklets detailing the conditions of admission to this educational structural unit of the National Aviation University.
