Metropolitan Epifaniy, Head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, was presented with a diploma and mantle of Honorary Doctor of the National Aviation University

On January 31, 2024, in order to strengthen social ties and form moral and ethical standards in higher education and science, the Academic Council of the University voted to award the title "Doctor Honoris Causa" to His Beatitude Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine, Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Doctor of Theology, who is actively engaged in educational and scientific activities.

Today, on February 21, 2024, a ceremony of awarding the diploma and attributes of the "Honorary Doctor of the National Aviation University" to His Beatitude Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine took place in the hall of the Academic Council. The event was also attended by the rector of the Kyiv Orthodox Theological Academy, archpriest Oleksandr Trofymliuk, and other invited guests.

Acting vice-rector for humanitarian policy and innovations Maryna Petchenko spoke about the spiritual and educational activities of the laureate from the rostrum of the Academic Council, and the Secretary of the Academic Council Mykola Legenkyi announced to all those present the decision to award the title of Honorary Doctor of the NAU. After that, the acting rector Volodymyr Shulga presented the diploma and attributes of the Honorary Doctor of the National Aviation University to the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine Epifaniy.

His Beatitude Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine addressed the participants of the meeting with words of gratitude for the award and expressed hope for further cooperation. "I accept this high title with the understanding that it is conferred not only on me personally as Primate, but on our entire multi-million local Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the Church of the Ukrainian people, which goes through all the difficulties and trials together with its people. After all, we live in a really difficult and very responsible time," said the Honorary Doctor of the National Aviation University.

Acting rector Volodymyr Shulga thanked His Beatitude Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine for his words of support and expressed hope that cooperation with the Orthodox Church of Ukraine would open up new opportunities for the development of the university community.After the solemn meeting of the Academic Council, the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine was given a tour of the university museum, where His Beatitude Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine left a note in the Book of Honorary Guests.
