FEBA held scientific and methodological seminars on the formation of the principles of academic integrity

In September, the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration held scientific and methodological seminars on topical issues of academic integrity. In particular, presentation materials were prepared on current issues of regulatory regulation, modern control technologies, types of violations, as well as practical cases on compliance with the principles of academic integrity.

On September 11, an event was held on the topic "Implementation of the Principles of Academic Integrity at the Department of Marketing", where associate professor Hanna Radchenko, responsible for the area, together with an audience of more than 60 students and colleagues, reviewed the components of the academic integrity system and its principles. They emphasized the types of written academic papers and their features, the rules of citation and references to information sources, as well as the results of a survey of students based on the results of the spring semester on compliance with the principles of academic integrity.

The participants reviewed cases with examples of violations of the rules of integrity and discussed the specifics of creating creative works and presentations with which marketers represent the department at professional competitions, advertising festivals, creative battles, as well as the procedure for checking qualification works for plagiarism using the Unichek program and the algorithm of the expert commission.

September 12 - a seminar on "Formation of a culture of academic integrity and high-quality academic writing - the key to the formation of future specialists". During the event, professor Samira Piletska emphasized the principles of academic integrity, considered the concept, types and types of plagiarism, the peculiarities of identifying and establishing the facts of violation of academic integrity by higher education students, characterized the main types of academic works, focused on the rules of citation and reference to the sources used, discussed the specifics of scientific and academic works and the procedure for checking academic texts for plagiarism, characterized the specifics of the academic writing process. Also during the meeting, higher education applicants were familiarized with the relevant section of the NAU website, which highlights all the main documents on ensuring compliance with the principles of academic integrity.

Given that the conditions for successful academic and scientific activities in the academic environment are high academic culture, which involves not only adherence to the principle of academic integrity, but also the availability of skills and abilities in academic writing, senior lecturer of the department Natalia Safonik presented a report on the basics of academic writing. During her speech, the speaker characterized the main features of academic writing, the skills necessary for successful mastery of academic writing skills, its key characteristics, and emphasized the need for proper citation and references to sources used.
