Criminal liability of minors

On November 23, 2020, associate professors of the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure of the Faculty of Law Iryna Litvinova and Yulia Lantsedova together with the Shevchenkivska District State Administration in Kyiv held a legal lecture for students of Kyiv Industrial College on the topic: "Criminal liability of minors".

This event was held in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the ratification by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the Convention on the Rights of the Child in order to acquaint college students with the rights enshrined in this special international instrument to ensure the welfare and protection of children.

During the legal lecture, the organizers focused on the implementation of the right to life, name, acquisition of citizenship, parental care, preservation of their identity and the right to be heard in any court or administrative proceedings concerning the child. Also discussed were the features of criminal liability and punishment of minors, theoretical and practical problems of application of legislation that determines the conditionality of criminal liability and criminal law measures applicable to minors.

The annual cooperation between the Faculty of Law and Shevchenkivska District State Administration in Kyiv provides not only awareness of young people about children's rights, but also raising the general level of legal culture of the younger generation and disseminating information on human and civil rights and interests.
