The Faculty of Linguistics and Social Communications hosted a webinar "(NOT) the Weak Sex"

On March 8, 2024, on the occasion of International Women's Day, the Faculty of Linguistics and Social Communications hosted a webinar "(NOT) the Weak Sex" at the initiative of students.

The participants of the event were welcomed by the acting dean of the faculty Natalia Melnyk, vice-dean Lesia Khomenko-Semenova, head of the Department of History and Documentation Iryna Turmenko, and head of the Department of Ukrainian Language and Culture Svitlana Lytvynska.

The webinar speakers addressed important topics of modern society that reveal the role of women in historical periods and today:

• "The history of the March 8 holiday and what this day really means for women."
• "Protection of women's rights in Ukraine and the world";
• "Gender equality - women in various fields of activity;
• "Problems faced by women and how discrimination against women manifests itself;
• "Development of feminism";
• "Famous Ukrainian women who made a significant contribution to the development of Ukraine;
• "Modern women and faith (Christianity)";
• "Evolution of the female image in art".

The webinar demonstrated the students' interest in topical issues. A lively discussion after each presentation showed that the topic of women's rights still causes a wide public response.
