By the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine dated January 12, 2024, the Supervisory Board of the National Aviation University (NAU) was established and its composition approved.

As a reminder, on October 13, 2023, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal of the Ministry of Education and Science to reorganize the National Aviation University (NAU), which was initiated by Vice Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov. On the same day, the Ministry of Education and Science signed an order that began the process of dividing NAU into two higher education institutions: State University Kyiv Aviation Institute and Ukrainian State Flight Academy (Kropyvnytskyi).

Earlier, Oksen Lisovyi spoke in detail about how the process of reorganization of the NAU will take place.

Consideration and discussion of the candidates for the Supervisory Board of the National Aviation University and its formation are in line with the current realities and challenges that the country is currently facing in a state of war. The formation of the Supervisory Board was based on the principle of involving stakeholders: representatives of public authorities, university graduates, business representatives, professional managers who cooperate with the university, etc.

"Together with the Ministry of Education and Science, we continue to transform the education system at every level. After all, changes in education are the foundation for Ukraine's economic breakthrough and human capital development. One of the important tracks is the transformation of higher education institutions. In addition to a new approach to financing, we are creating supervisory boards at universities that include business representatives, effective managers and executives. Each of them will help universities get more opportunities for development to implement bold and revolutionary solutions. After all, it is the universities that train future personnel who will become drivers of change in the country," said Mykhailo Fedorov, Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Digital Transformation.

"The management component plays a crucial role in the development of higher education institutions, and thus in the quality of education in them. A lot depends on the quality of management, whether students, staff and business are involved in decision-making. So, our goal is to develop the management capacity of top teams at universities. In particular, we plan to strengthen the role of supervisory boards in higher education institutions to enable the transition to European-style university autonomy. The example of the National Aviation University is one of the first steps on this path," Oksen Lisovyi, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine.

"The most effective model was chosen to create the Supervisory Board. It combines representatives of business - professional and highly effective top managers, university graduates of different years who are extremely motivated to change their Alma Mater, representatives of government - progressive, result-oriented and significantly improving the quality of education, science and innovation in the country, and, of course, representatives of defense tech, strategic industries (for example, the UAV industry and others) who have a vision, extensive expertise and experience in creating and developing relevant for the country n Each person has his or her own background, but everyone has one big goal - to make a real revolution at NAU, to turn it into a powerful university that Ukraine will be proud of," said Petro Chernyshov, advisor to the Minister of Education and Science.

The Supervisory Board of the NAU includes 7 representatives, three of whom are graduates of the university of different years, who currently hold various positions in various sectors of the economy, and the rest of the experts are representatives of big business and government. In addition, two of them are representatives of defense technologies and strategic industries in Ukraine. All members of the Supervisory Board work on a voluntary basis.
