Trailer for the lecture:

So, for future psychologists and students who are interested in the topic of psychology and psychiatry, want to expand their knowledge and horizons, listen to a recognized expert in the field.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder, or OCD, is a disease that affects 1.5 to 3% of the world's population. Despite the fact that this disorder is relatively less studied than other mental disorders, research on the biological basis of obsessive-compulsive disorder has made significant progress in recent years, which has allowed us to formulate neurobiological models that have some impact on the clinical treatment of patients. The lecture will review the most influential neurobiological models of OCD, which have largely focused on changes in the cortico-striatal loop, but which increasingly recognize the potential role of changes in other brain regions. You will also learn about the latest research findings in this area and how this knowledge is already helping to treat OCD.

Carles Soriano-Mas teaches quantitative psychology at the University of Barcelona.

His research is at the intersection of neuroscience, psychiatry and psychology and focuses on describing changes at the level of neural networks in the brain in mental health disorders. In the course of his research, he uses various neuroimaging methods, ranging from the analysis of morphometric features to the description of abnormal patterns of functional interconnections between remote brain regions. The knowledge gained in the course of his research is used in the study of mood and anxiety disorders, especially in the study of obsessive-compulsive disorders, in which he is a recognized expert. He has published more than 200 research papers in international journals, and his recent research has been published in Biological Psychiatry, Molecular Psychiatry, and the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Here is more information about him and possible courses.

Join us, learn new things, and most importantly, take care of your mental health, now more than ever.
