WEBOMETRIX-2016: NAU IS ONE OF MOST QUOTED UKRAINIAN UNIVERSITIES

The National Aviation University has ranked the 5th place among Ukrainian universities on the quality of scientific research by quoting scholars in Google Scholar, according to Webometrics Ranking of World's Universities.

The new web-ranking of Webometrics Ranking of World's Universities was drawn up on the basis of systematic data from developers in July 2016 and covered about 20 000 universities and higher educational institutions around the world. First places are traditionally occupied by classic US universities. Harvard University (US) has become the leader with the indicator 1389765 citations.

The ratings and web places were given to 334 universities of Ukraine. In particular, the top five leaders are the KSU named after Shevchenko, Sumy State University, NTU "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute", National University "Lviv Polytechnic" and the National Aviation University.

The rating of Webometrics Ranking of World Universities was started in 2004 by a Spanish research group Laboratorio de Internet (Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), the main public research body in Spain). It is updated twice a year in January and July. Compiling the rating, this web-recourse is based on a composite indicator that takes into account both the volume of the Web contents (number of web pages and files) and the visibility and impact of these web publications according to the number of external inlinks (site citations) they received; they account the contextual and information activity of the site of an educational institution.
