PROFESSOR VOLODYMYR KHARCHENKO MET JOHN SAR FRANCIS YAMBASU, AMBASSADOR EXTRAORDINARY AND PLENIPOTENTIARY OF THE REPUBLIC OF SIERRA LEONE
On August 16th, 2016, Acting Rector of NAU, Professor Volodymyr Kharchenko held an official meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Sierra Leone John Sar Yambasu at the National Aviation University. It should be stated that the meeting had not exactly protocol atmosphere, since Mr. Jambasu graduated from NAU (Mechanical Department) in 1979. The Ambassador greeted Volodymyr Kharchenko with a broad smile, and as far as they started talking about what he would like to see at the university, he asked to include seeing two dormitories in the campus (5th and 7th) to the proposed program as he had been living there during his student days.
Volodymyr Kharchenko thanked Mr. Ambassador that he found time and was willing to see the current life of NAU. Much time had passed since Mr. Ambassador's graduation; thus, Professor Volodymyr Kharchenko shared brief information about the achievements of NAU, and invited him to see a presentation film about the present life of our university. John Sar Yambasu watched it very attentively and with interest. He was also shown a video about the development of UFVs (drones), which were presented in various forms and versions: police, landing, medical, cargo and VIP.
Mr. Ambassador's Program of visit included familiarization with the Museum of NAU, hangar, Aerospace Center, aircraft management control center, including drones. Mr. Ambassador had an opportunity to get acquainted with the work of the Scientific and Production Center of Unmanned Aircraft "Virage" and visit the dormitories being so dear to him.
This visit was exploratory in nature. Therefore, Acting Rector Volodymyr Kharchenko invited the guest to take part in the VII World Congress "Aviation in the XXI Century", to be held in the National Aviation University on 19-21 September. This will make it possible to lay the foundation for future cooperation and to define ways of its realization.
