Kyiv Students Created "Chain of Unity" Supporting Ukraine before the Referendum in the Netherlands

Students of Kyiv Universities have organized a large-scale flash mob "Chain of Unity: Ukraine and Europe are Stronger Together!" supporting our country on tomorrow’s referendum in the Netherlands on the Association Agreement between the European Union and Ukraine, reports UNN. The organizers of the flash mob were the students themselves. The "Chain of Unity" joined 1,500 students from the National Aviation University, Kiev National Taras Shevchenko University, National Pedagogical University named after Dragomanov and other universities.

Young people marched hand in hand about the center of Kyiv from the building of the Royal Embassy of the Netherlands in Ukraine to European square, where the representatives of each educational establishment made a speech at the Ukrainian House.

The Parliament of the Netherlands completed the process of ratification of the Agreement on Association between Ukraine and the EU in July 2015. However, in September in the Netherlands the necessary number of signatures were collected – more than 450 thousand – to hold a consultative referendum on the ratification of the agreement. It was appointed on April, 6.

If the Dutch vote for the revision of the agreement with Ukraine, the Government and Parliament may take this into consideration. At the same time, the referendum is not obligatory to be executed and only serves to know the opinion of their citizens.
