DEMO FLIGHTS OF UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLES (UAVS)

Colonel I. Chepkov, Head of the Central Research Institute of Weapons and Military Equipment of Armed Forces of Ukraine invited the experts of our university to take part in the scientific seminar “Problems of the Development of Unmanned Aircraft Systems for the Armed Forces and Other Military Formations along with .

The seminar was held on May 30-31, 2016, at the State Scientific Testing Center of the Armed Forces in Chernihiv oblast. There was an exhibition of modern drones before the seminar. About 20 Ukrainian manufacturers brought their best samples to Chernihiv. The representatives of AFU (Armed Forces of Ukraine) and developers of UAVs took floor on the first day of this SS (Scientific Seminar – theoretical part of the seminar). In the afternoon, Professor V. Kharchenko, Acting Rector of NAU, supervisor of UAVs, made a report on “Design of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (experience of NAU)”.

The theoretical part of the meeting was closed by Deputy Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Ivan Pavlovsky.

The second day (demonstration flights) began at the range in Honcharivsk village, where Oleksandr Turchynov, Secretary of NSDC of Ukraine, joined the demo flights of the best foreign and national UAVs. The experts of the State Scientific-testing center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and specialists on unmanned aviation systems checked the state and standard equipment of systems, defined flight tasks, preflight preparation, ground inspection of operation of the systems and performed demo flights. The flights were opened by UAVs of our University.

According to Secretary of NSDC of Ukraine, “There is no alternative for our country than to give an adequate response to the aggressor by developing military and intelligence drones and complexes. We have already started mass production of tactical unmanned systems that carry out exploration and adjustment of fire, but so far there is no mass production of military drones”, he explained. Turchynov said, ”Some samples of drones with combat use have been tested today at this range, the best will be finalized, and their production will be put on stream.”
