NAU Winners of the Nationwide Contest “AVIATOR-2016” to Visit Farnborough Air Show
NAU announced the winners of the Nationwide Contest “AVIATOR-2016” who are going to visit the Farnborough Air Show.
On April 22, 2016, Borys Kolesnikov’s Charitable Foundation summed up the national project “AVIATOR-2016”, which it performs the fifth time consecutively for students of aviation technical specialties nationwide.
The expert jury of “AVIATOR-2016”, headed by Dmytro Kiva, General Designer for Antonov Serial Plant, selected 100 most promising young aviators from all over Ukraine, including 34 students of NAU. It was extremely difficult to choose the best works, because 3,000 participants were involved in the project, while 200 contestants came to the finals.
The project was conducted in nine universities and colleges including the National Aviation University, National Technical University of Ukraine “Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” (Kyiv), Kharkiv National Aerospace University named after M.E. Zhukovsky "KhAI", Kirovograd Flight Academy of NAU, Dnipropetrovsk National University named after Oles Honchar, Zaporizhzhya National Technical University and Slovyansk, Kryvyi Rih and Kremenchuk colleges of NAU.
The winners overcame six challenging stages, namely: evaluation in exact sciences, test in foundations and history of aviation, English language, business-case solutions and protection of motivational presentations at the finals. One hundred winners comprised a team of the best young pilots, dispatchers and aircraft builders. A worthy reward is waiting for them: a trip to London to visit the world known summer Air Show Farnborough International.
Dmitry Kiva, General Designer for “Antonov Serial Plant” and the chairman of the jury of the annual contest “AVIATOR-2016”, noted the high level of knowledge of future pilots, “I am very pleased with the competition. The winners are the best Ukrainian students. Almost all of them have already got training experience abroad, and also in academic works or interesting elaborations. The juries were so pleased with some contestants that they invited them not only for probation period but for further employment for best companies of Ukraine.
The winners were warmly welcomed by the Acting Rector Volodymyr Kharchenko. He noted the growing level of the project participants who would subsequently join the ranks of employees for the aviation industry of Ukraine. The National Aviation University is an important structure of aviation industry. Our students and alumni demonstrate the level of knowledge having constructed, for example, six types of drones, which have made a number of successful trials, particularly in the area of ATO in the eastern part of Ukraine. V. Kharchenko wished new achievements to talented contestants. And he is convinced of their great motivation after visiting Farnborough Air Show.
The winners noted that due to Borys Kolesnikov’s Fund they would be able to visit Farnborough and get great experience and knowledge, which will be used for the benefit of Ukrainian aviation.
Good luck to you, young talented aviators of Ukraine!
