International Scientific Conference “Problems of State Responsibility”

On April, 8 an international scientific conference “Problems of State Responsibility", initiated and coordinated by a leading scientist Viktor Antipenko, Doctor of Law, Professor, Head of the International Law Institute of NAU, was held in the hall of the Academic Council of the National Aviation University.

The event was attended by prominent Ukrainian scientists in the field of international law. Among the distinguished guests of the event were Yu. Shemshuchenko, Director of the Institute of State and Law named after V.N. Koretsky of Ukrainian NAS, Academician of NAS of Ukraine, Ivan Bilas, Doctor of Law, A. Dmytriev, Doctor of Law, L. Tymchenko, Doctor of Law, S. Andreichenko, Doctor of Law, Boris Leonov, Doctor of Law and representatives of embassies of Moldova and Azerbaijan.

Viktor Kharchenko, acting rector of the National Aviation University, welcomed the participants of the conference and presented the proposals in the field of aviation law in the context of state responsibility. Yu. Shemshuchenko spoke about the issues involving state responsibility in space law. He put forward, formulated and grounded several important international legal issues including the problem of compensation in space law; space pollution by debris in the form of broken satellites; track the launch of satellites to the orbit of Earth etc. He made a thorough analysis of the current state responsibility and advanced specific recommendations in improving international legal mechanism for bringing to justice a state as a subject of international law.
