AVIATION UNITES PEOPLES

Director of the ICAO Institute of NAU, Professor Galina Suslova as a member of Ukrainian delegation participated in the 39 session of the General Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Montreal (Canada).

The triennial Assembly of ICAO is one of the largest events of this kind being held once in 3 years and discusses the major issues of this international organization, which is the UN agency; the ICAO accounting more than 70 years of its activity for global cooperation and development in the field of air transport. ICAO's 191 Member States and a large number of international organizations are invited to the Assembly, which establishes the worldwide policy of the Organization for the upcoming triennium.

The 39 session of the General Assembly was officially opened by President of the ICAO Council, Dr. Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu, Minister of Transport of Canada Marc Garneau, Prime Minister of Quebec Philippe Couillard and Mayor of Montreal Denis Coderre.

More than 800 delegates from 184 countries, namely ministers, heads of aviation administrations, diplomats and ICAO experts were accredited at the Assembly of ICAO. At ICAO workshops they discussed the current issues of aviation security, counter-terrorism training and retraining of aviation specialists, and environmental protection.
